It's a new place in town! New is not necessary bad though. Situated at the traffic junction in town opposite of Oriental Hotel, which is just in front of Siamese Secret. Great place for those who want to try some new recipe in town esp their special meal which i think it is probably the first in this city! Chocolate Fondue! Before i go into the detail of this meal, let me give a quick de tour what they have over there as it is one of the middle-size gathering for makan maniacs!

Like to have a cup of hot drink to warm you up for the day? Try and enjoy a big cup of hot chocolate. The aroma of chocolate is just great which goes wild in your mouth. The goodness is that it is not too sweet which i think it will just overpowered the cocoa flavour.

Want to throw a surprise birthday to your friend, no sweat and this place have you covered. It is not a cake. It is ice-cream! This is where the creativity comes. Using ice-cream to replace the cake and a candle on top of it! How cool this is! No more boring cake cutting time :)

If you like something which is hot and creamy, give it a try on their chicken soup or mushroom soup. With its creaminess, it will be most likely give you a big smile in satisfaction especially for cold weather (rainy days or night time).

Finger-licking deep-fried calamari is one of the choice you can have for a light snack or meal to go along with your drink of your choice. Comes with wasabi sauce, which i am not a fan of it so i am not sure how good is the wasabi :D

Want something else as your selection in snacks? You can have the steaming hot deep-fried potato wedges. Comes with a specially made dipping sauce which i tested it and it seems itis made of tomato and red onions in small chunks together with vinegar. This is the first time i had this kind of sauce goes with the wedge. Uniquely delicious. Have a try.

If you like something with garlic, have a try on their garlic bread. It smells tempting and mouth-watering when you look at it. I will love to have a big bite on it for my next visit :)

Enough of side meals or snacks, let's look at some of their main courses. First off, the deep-fried dishes with the choice of chicken or fish, comes with mayonnaise or tartare sauce (to be confirmed), salad on another side and of course, french fries! Portion i think it is just great unless you are a big eater :) Or if you want in burger style, try their burger. It is a thumbs up from my fellow friend for the night.

Not fancy in deep fried food? Have a change. Try their chicken chop. Nicely done on its marinate and roasting process where you dun see any part of it get burned (which give you bitter taste instead). Served with roasted potate which is cut in half ans some vegetables underneath the chicken.

If you like rice, try their baked rice topped with cheese and the choice of chicken or seafood. It is currently a trend in Miri now as more and more place served based rice with cheese but this place serve it differently as the top layer is not burned.

Want to go for Italian style? They serve it too! One of the choice you have is the meatball Fettucini (and again will check with the owner to make sure this is correct) or the one i had for the night: Black pepper seafood Fettucini! Serve with seafood on top and comes with great flavour of black pepper sauce. This is when you feel proud to be Sarawakian as black pepper in Sarawak is probably one of the best quality to be exported for its great aroma.

Here come the most special meals of all i have mentioned above.................. CHOCOLATE FONDUE! With 4 little side plate surrounding the melted chocolate in the middle, burning with little candle at the bottom of the bowl. With selections of fruits, marshmallows and wafers, i believe you will be able to get what you want to dip in that bowl of rich melted chocolate. Oh yes, of course not to forget the ice cream at the side. It is not for dipping :D Want a romantic moment with your love ones, you can order this. I feel it can be quite romantic, do you? :) For sure will want to being my partner along for this meal ;)

They have other dishes like salads and banana split too! Stay tuned as i will try to return and cover more for my dear readers :)

Overall service, a thumb up. All the staff and of course not to forget the owner, Kevin Gom, are friendly and dressed neatly. With the refreshing environment where the wall are painted in light green apple colour, it just makes you want to stay a bit longer and relax. Why wait? it is definitely one of the hottest spot you can now find in the city of Miri!

Update! (30.09.2008)

They are growing! Now they have more varieties for you to choose your meal! Before i go into detail what's new, i probably show you come of the meals which has already in their menu but not taken by me from the last visit. Here it goes!

Pasta! more pasta! (but i forgot the name of this dish. Horrible me................)

Like sandwich? Try their chicken sandwich! Not sure if they actually make their own bread but it is different from many places in Miri. served along with lots of french fries and salad on the side.

Ok here comes their new menu!

First off, their new drinks! Try their caramel milkshake if you like caramel flavour. The balance between teh milky flavour and the caramel are just nice that none of the flavour are over-powering another.

I really think you should try this: Funky Monkey. It is mixture of choco syrup with little chunks of banana (if i am not mistaken) with milk. Mixed them together. Take a sip. It is actually very nice! The important part is that sometimes many places had their banana flavour too strong which you feel like not having for another glass. But their funky moneky however is well balanced with milk and choco flavour in it. It is so great that i nearly want to order another glass (but i am too full by then).

Now, their new lunch menu set. If you like hot and spicy, go for their curry chicken rice. If i rank the spiciness from 1 chilli to 5 chillis, i might rank it 3 chillis. Although i do not like to taste food that are too spicy, but this one is different. When you had them, for the first few seconds, seems nothing happen but when it gets longer, it is coming! whoa............. But i still ike it :D Served with fragrance rice along with some pickled vegetables and also a bowl of clear broth to smoothen your throat.

Another great lunch meal they have is Thai style Fish rice. Fish fillet are deep fried with very nice coating and stir fry with their specially made sauce that taste sweet and spicy. The fish taste great and most importantly, it is fost and not like those with strong "fish smells". Served with fragrance rice, pickled vegetables and clear broth. Book your time now and pay a visit!

Generally, it is totally not worth it to eat here. The price listed is extra over expensive. One time ok, 2nd time no thanks. This shop is in my black list too.

EstherHuiLee said...

The price still ok for me.standard price bah!

dasolve said...

hi there anonymous, can you please tell me the reason behind your black list which interested me a lot. Because i believe you have your reason to say so and i need them so that it can be served as the thing they need to deal with to grow further. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

if this restaurant is categorized as non halal restaurant..why there is such a statement 'serve no pork' even the waiter says it's halal when a muslim friend came to the restaurant recently pls clarify this matter. Please respect the muslims if the owner of this restaurant doesnt want anybody to lodge a complain to Jabatan Agama Islam.

I always go to Citrus. Don't think the restaurant is halal. I don't see the halal cert in the restaurant - it only says serves no pork. Maybe the waiter was confused, I don't even think they are local.

. At first i was excited when i read some blogs posting about an opening of a new restaurant called citrus, there they talked about how delicious the food is... bla bla bla but that turned out to be a disappointing experience. The chicken chop i ordered is overcooked and hard and i feel that restaurant tries too hard to be some place of sophistication but in the end it FAILED!!!! Overall its not worth your money to go there.. I would rather dine in Siamese secrets.

Went to Citrus for my birthday's dinner last Sunday.
They've improved and the food is fantastic!!!

tasted their burger but the bun was too hard & dry! we had the prawn pizza (Spice Girls). the prawns on the pizza were uncooked! we told the waitress about it then after that she brought it back to the kitchen to cook. then it came out the bottom of the pizza was burnt! my favorite funky monkey also came with a weird taste! it was sour & no peanut butter taste at all! so disappointed!

I had a friend working in the citrus kitchen before. He told me that every dish contains ajinimoto (added msg). I heard that stuff makes you lose your hair!

Definitely never eating there. Blacklist!

Hey Mark, sad to say almost every freaking place uses ajinomoto or Msg.
If you want to worry about your hair falling off try worrying about your heart and cholestrol the next time you stuff your face with KFC!!
